Kate is quite the party planner. She planned her birthday party for weeks. She just might have a future career here, her birthday went perfectly! It all started with her first "slumber party" with her BFF and neighbor, Addie. The two of them giggled and squealed and ran around the house all evening.
I didn't think they'd ever be able to settle down and actually fall asleep. Every time I checked on them they were in their sleeping bags, forehead to forehead, whispering, giggling and singing. It was after 11:00 before all was quiet.
The next morning was Kate's actual birthday! We kicked off the day with her requested breakfast, blueberry muffins and sausage patties. Then we headed down to Scovil Zoo to meet Aunt Cathy for our VIP behind the scenes zoo tour. We arrived a little early and had some time to play on the super playground first.
Aunt Cathy is a walking animal encyclopedia! She had tons of animal facts, and her presentation was so interesting (I think Drew and I enjoyed it as much as the kids). We started off with the mobile zoo animals since Cathy already had them out from an Easter presentation she did earlier that morning.
After the mobile zoo animals, we went behind the scenes to help put the animals all back in their cages. Then Cathy gave us the full zoo tour. We are looking forward to visiting the zoo again this summer!
After a Happy Meal lunch and more playground fun, we were back in the car headed for home to prepare for the official birthday party. Mono & Papa, Great Mono, Grammy & Papa, Aunt Jenn, and Addie's family joined us. Every last detail was planned by Kate. Spaghetti for dinner and ice cream cake from DQ (she told the lady there exactly how she wanted it decorated).
She even planned a contest! Kate divided up a poster board so everyone at the party had a square. She instructed us all to draw our best drawing for her in our square, then she would judge the best one. She had prizes for everyone (she was afraid people would be sad if they lost), but the two winners got their picture taken with her. Look who won!!
It was an awesome party. Lots of laughs and noise, nothing better than a house full of family and friends. Kate planned things perfectly.
