I had a great Mother's Day weekend. My main goal for the weekend was to get my garden in. Mission accomplished! It might be more like vegetable soup, than a vegetable garden...the rows won't be straight, there may be a little corn mixed in with the beans...but Ben was my helper from start to finish. He stuck right by my side, even as the temperature grew colder and colder and the winds picked up. I love my little garden buddy! Look, he even gardens wearing a tie! (He dressed himself before our trip to Menard's that morning, he wanted to look handsome. Love him!)
On Mother's Day we made a trip to Shelbyville. It was fun to be able to celebrate with my mom and Drew's mom together.
Who knew Mother's Day would be a day of wildlife surprises! First, Ben and Drew found a box turtle. Kate quickly took it under her wing, naming her Elizabeth Rose Goebel. Quite a name for a turtle.
Not long after, a toad was found by the pond. It was a Lukey sized toad. Luke wasn't quite sure if he liked the thing or not.
Later in the afternoon, while the kiddos and Grammy were in the basement watching cartoons, a fat ol' mouse was discovered. The little thing made quite a scene as the Papas and Drew tried to catch it while the rest of us looked on squealing and laughing.
It was a perfect Mother's Day! I love, love, love these babies of mine!
