We had Kate's birthday party this afternoon. I think she had a great time (and ate LOADS of sugar!). She was so sad when everyone left, she stood in front of the window, waving and crying, for a long time. Here are a few pictures from the day:
Helping Mommy bake her birthday cake.
It took her FOREVER to open her gifts. She is so particular about things. She slowly ripped the paper off in little strips. Then she'd place the strips in a nice, neat pile right next to her. Once she finally got the gift open, she'd tell everyone "bye" and take the gift upstairs to play with it. She eventually got a little faster.
We have been singing "Happy Birthday" to Kate for the last week or so. She loves it when we get to the part with her name. So, we had to sing the song a couple of times for her. But as much as she loves the birthday song, I think she loves the birthday cake even more!
Usually Kate is very careful to not get her hands or face dirty. And usually she wipes her face with her napkin after almost every bite. Not today! I guess her sweet tooth trumps staying nice and clean because after blowing out her candles she dove into her cake.
Thank you Grandmas & Grandpas and Aunts & Uncles for helping to make Kate's 2nd birthday so much fun!
