SNOW!!

We started February off with snow, lots and lots of snow.  I never heard exactly how many inches we got, but it was well over a foot.  I'd guess somewhere between 15 and 18 inches and the drifts in our yard were probably over 4 feet.  The night it came down the wind was blowing so hard the snow was swirling around, you couldn't tell if it was snowing or just blowing.  But as fast as it was accumulating it was obvious it was it doing a lot of snowing.  We had some occasional lightning and thunder, too.  Drew spent most of the blizzard out scooping our drive (along with our neighbor next door and the one across the street).  It was an endless task because it was coming down faster than they could scoop.  Drew said it was because we couldn't be trapped if the baby decided to come, which is true, but I think the real reason was the guys wanted to "play" in the snow.  Whatever the reason, we had one of the cleanest drives in the neighborhood!  The next morning we took some pictures of the yard with all the snow, but it looks so much more dramatic in person. 

Along with the snow we got bitterly cold temperatures so I hadn't let the kids go out and play.  Kate was really wanting to make some snow angels.  The snow was so deep it was quite possible we could lose her til June!  Finally, yesterday's temperature was in the upper 30s!  We bundled Kate up and sent her out for the afternoon.  She had a ball playing with the neighbor girls and in the fort Dad built in our front yard (appropriately named The Super Bowl, since it resembled a giant bowl and it was Super Bowl Sunday).  When Ben woke up from his nap he joined them for a little while too.

Good thing they got their play in yesterday, those bitterly cold temperatures are coming back.  Now we are on the countdown for Baby Goebel to make his arrival.  Only two more weeks (hopefully no longer)!  Kate has some exciting things coming up at school too...her Valentine's party, Pajama Day, and pizza night.  We have lots to look forward to!
