Rodeo Night

Drew got us tickets to the rodeo on Saturday night through the FFA at his school.  We had seen the advertisements on TV and Kate was getting pretty excited about going.  She was really hoping she'd see Jesse from Toy Story there.  I didn't know exactly what to expect but we told her she'd see some cowgirls (but probably not Jesse), she could ride a pony, and pet a horse's nose.  She was satisfied.

Before the show started there were some activities set up for kids.  Kate and Ben both got a cowboy hat and we met up with Kate's friend Addison.  There wasn't much for Ben to do, but he is a people watcher and was happy being perched on Dad's shoulders with a bird's eye view of the chaos.  (This isn't a very good picture of Ben, but proof he was there!)

Kate rode a pony (a couple of times), checked out the cowboys and cowgirls, played a toilet version of horseshoes (it was kind of random), and played around with Addison until the rodeo started. 

 

 

It was a fun night.  The show kept the kids' attention the entire time.  Drew and I were impressed with the bull riding; Kate was amazed by the trick riders.  Both kiddos were getting pretty tired but didn't want to leave.  I couldn't believe they both stayed awake and entertained for the entire thing.  We had been in the car on the way home about 10 minutes when Kate remembered she forgot to pet a horse's nose.  Oh, no!  Maybe next time....
