Last Christmas Grammy gave Kate an American Girl Bitty Baby. Since that day, Grammy has been dreaming about a trip to the American Girl Store in Chicago and taking Kate and her Bitty Baby to lunch. Well, that day finally arrived! Dressed in matching dresses (a birthday present from Grammy) the girls (Kate and the doll) got lots of ooo's and ahhh's from passerby's on the street.
Once at the store, Kate browsed through the store for a few minutes before our lunch reservation and played with some of the doll accessories. She was most impressed by the fact that everything was pink. She got a big kick out of the pink bathroom.
Kate's baby (she has not yet been officially named, we call her Baby), had her own seat at the table. Shortly after we were seated Baby was served tea. Kate wasn't satisfied with the pretend tea and she had to pour a little water into Baby's cup. Kate was very attentive to her baby and gave her sips of tea several times throughout our meal. Once the appetizer was served, Kate very carefully cut up a piece of cheese in tiny little bites just for her baby.
Thanks Grammy, we had lots of fun!
After our lunch we met up with the boys and went to Shedd Aquarium for the afternoon. Ben loved it! He got so excited when he'd see a big fish. He would point and clap. It was fun watching him. He also got quite excited about watching the trainers work with the Beluga whales. The beluga whales were Kate's favorite part, too.
We had a great day in Chicago with Grammy and Papa. Now we are looking forward to our long weekend in the Ozarks with them in just a few days!
