Ozarks

Drew's parents graciously treated us to a long weekend at Lake of the Ozarks.  The boys and Maria spent their mornings on the tennis court.  We all spent our days on the lake and our evenings eating (there was some amazing cooking going on), watching movies, and playing games.

Cruising around the lake while admiring the beautiful homes never got old, and it gave the kids a chance to take a little snooze.  Most afternoons we just floated around in a cove.  Kate got stronger and stronger as a swimmer and began some Dora the Explorer adventures of her own in the water.

One afternoon we rented a jet ski.  We took a short, slow family cruise before Kate took over and drove all on her own!

The weather was absolutely perfect except for one afternoon.  A thunderstorm crept up on us pretty quickly.  We were quite a drive away from our boat slip when we found ourselves alone on the lake except for thunder, lightning, buckets of rain, and some pretty strong winds.  We made ourselves a temporary shelter at the end of a boat dock.  Once the wind and rain picked up enough that we couldn't stay on our boat any longer we ventured out and found an empty boat to finish riding out the storm.  I'm sure the owners wouldn't mind, would they??  It was a little scary at the time, but now that it is over it is just another exciting Goebel Family memory.
We had lots of fun, lots of sun, and a few good hard belly laughs.  All the ingredients for a great vacation!  Thanks Grammy & Papa.
