The day Kate has been waiting and waiting for finally arrived...today was her first day of school for the year at Eureka Community Nursery School. She is in the 4 year old class this year on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons.
Being it was the first day, parents were invited to spend some time in the classroom. The students had "table time", read a story, and sang a marching song. Then they had playtime while the parents attended a meeting with the teachers.
It is always so fun for me to watch Kate interact with her classmates. She was super excited to get Mrs. Woolridge as her teacher again this year. There were a couple of familiar faces in her class, too. She was very comfortable and much more subdued than I remember this experience last year! Kate loves her school and can't wait to get started. Their first unit is on rainbows! Things couldn't get much better for Kate!
In the parent meeting Mrs. Woolridge was talking about parents being a child's first and best teacher. She made a comment about parenting that stuck with me. She said, "The days and nights are long, but the years are short". I've had some especially long days and nights lately, but today gave me a re-newed thankfulness for staying home with my babies.
